background & purpose
Enjoyed for centuries across the globe, tea boasts a rich history of popularity. Valued at approximately 122.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2022, the global tea market is projected to reach a staggering 160 billion dollars by 2028 and expected to register a CAGR of 5.72% during the forecast period (2024 – 2029). This growth is fueled by heightened consumer awareness of the health benefits associated with tea consumption, which is a major driver propelling market expansion.
In parallel, the smart agriculture sector has been gaining traction due to advancements in technology and the need for sustainable farming practices to address environmental concerns. Smart agriculture encompasses the integration of technologies such as the Internet of Things, sensors, GPS systems, robotics, and artificial intelligence into agricultural operations, so as to enhance both the quality and yield of crops while optimising human labor utilisation. The Smart Agriculture Market, valued at USD 20.05 billion in 2022, is poised for significant expansion, projected to surge to USD 55.21 billion by 2030 with a CAGR of 13.5% forecasted for the period from 2023 to 2030.
In the Middle East and Africa, tea carries profound cultural significance, deeply intertwined with social rituals and traditions. As these regions witness notable population surges, this indicates opportunities for growth and burgeoning demand for tea leaves. As such, we conducted this B2B market research for our client who is a startup company that products tea leaves using smart agriculture in Asian, African, and Middle Eastern countries.
In order to gain deeper insights into the tea manufacturing and smart agriculture markets within these regions, we undertook a survey aimed at confirming the demand for smart agriculture and identifying countries suitable for tea export in the B2B sector, supported by government subsidies.
